Hallelujah, the unofficial start to summer has arrived! With Memorial Day comes the annual lifting of the fashion ban on wearing white (although some have always played a little fast and loose with that rule).  I say go bold with a multi-level maxi, as long as you don't forget to check your seat before you wreck yourself.  In honor of the warmer months, go for bright colors that jump out against the white, really drawing attention to the contrast.

Accessories-wise, you could go classic with studs and a bangle, or shake things up with some funkier pieces, like this adorable little camera necklace from Urban Outfitters.  You can click through to my Polyvore to check out the links for all these goodies.  I know I can't wait for the weather to really commit so I can break out a look like this.

Vice Report: Week of 5/9/11

I told myself that I wouldn't go around purchasing any more clothing after my wild, mid-winter, depression-inspired shopping spree.  This, however, is something altogether different.  As many of you know, I only wear skirts and dresses, something I've done almost exclusively since I was five years old.  I haven't owned a pair of shorts since I was 17, a pair of pants since I was 15, and a pair of jeans since I was 13.

It's been a while.

The problem is that I've started liking shirts more, and people notice when you wear the same skirt five days of the week even if they don't notice someone wearing jeans five days of the weeks.  So I settled for shorts.  Admittedly, very baggy shorts that might be a little too large for me, but hey, baby steps, right?  Right.

Chicago Sun Times

The weather here yesterday was gorrrrrrrgeous, 83 degrees and sunny most of the day, with only a hint of apocalypse as the evening hours approached. In light of the niceness, many of my fellow students shed their extra layers and cavorted about in stylish spring clothes. It looked like the whole quad was smiling, what with the abundance of happy spring outfits.  A couple of my friends were looking particularly good while they appreciated this suspiciously good weather.

Because I'm a bad fashion blogger, I forgot to ask where they got all the lovely things they were wearing, but that's probably for the best, because taking the time to write that down would have interfered with my sunning, and we can't have that.  I know Dani's bag is from Urban Outfitters, 'cause someone else asked her (my bad).  I love the contrast between the coral-colored fabric and the dark leather.  I'm also seriously diggin' those shorts, which went perfectly with her casual floral top.  Mallorie was pretty brave, wearing a highly textured sweater in that heat, but it looks great with the simple denim shorts and her fly-as-hell sunglasses.  Throw in the matching bag, and she's looking like a celebrity out to get her Ultimate Frisbee fix.  You know.  Like celebrities do.  'Cause they love it. (wtf am I talking about?)

Thanks to Mallorie and Dani for posing for me, and sorry to Dani for ambushing her while she was trying to collect herself.  And thanks to the great weather for making me believe summer will eventually arrive!  Don't be long now, y'hear?
